Terminology

Mentor
This would be you. You are the person who will be holding someone accountable for something, that someone being the Protégé. You could think of it as teacher/student, coach/coachee, sponsor/sponsee, or anything else, but here we will will call it Mentor and Protégé.
Protégé
This would be the person you are holding accountable. You are the Mentor or person who will be holding someone accountable for something, and he or she is the Protégé. You could think of it as teacher/student, coach/coachee, sponsor/sponsee, or anything else, but here we will will call it Mentor and Protégé.
Goal
A Goal is something the Mentor and Protégé agree upon. There are two types. There is a do something goal, and a don't do something goal.
Do Something Goal
A do something goal is something you want to do daily, which may or may not include weekends. You or your protégé can set the schedule to see how often reminders are sent. They can be sent up to once an hour, but you can choose when you don't want them sent, like maybe during the day while your protégé is at work.

Reminders will be sent as defined in the schedule until the protégé acknowledges receipt by responding. If the protégé responds that all actions are completed, the emails will stop. If some but not all actions are completed, the emails will continue for the incomplete items. The protégé may respond that he or she is not going to complete one or all of the items, in which case you will be notified.

If the protégé doesn't respond to any of the emails for that day, the next day you will be notified.
Don't Do Something Goal
A don't do something goal is something you don't want your protégé to do. The protégé will get an email each day asking if he or she was successful at not doing the action or actions the day before. If the protégé responds that he or she was unsuccessful with any activity, you will be notified.

If the protégé doesn't respond to the email for that day, the next day you will be notified.

Best Practices

Whitelist getaccountablenow.com
You should whitelist getaccountablenow.com in your email client to make sure you get your notification.

Even if you get them now, it is best to go ahead and whitelist the domain. We've seen Google send these emails to spam even after a long period of not doing that. Presumably, this is because you will receive a large number of identical emails.

If you should decide you don't want to receive the emails anymore, PLEASE suspend them or unsubscribe. We certainly don't want to make you receive emails you don't want, but if you mark them as spam it affects other people that do want to receive these emails. The whole point of the reminder emails is to nag you, but we have tried to make it as easy as possible to stop the nagging when you don't want it anymore.
